Next to them was Bas Dolmans (Xystus) who did an awesome job as The Conductor. George Oosthoek (ex-Orphanage) and Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion) followed to act out their roles as The Banshee and The Muse. Although this made it hard to follow the first part of the story, the combination of her voice, the orchestra and the band gave me the first set of goosebumps during the evening. Her voice made it sound like we were about to watch an opera. At first the amazing Metropole Orchestra started playing, after which Dianne van Giersbergen (Xandria) came on stage to act out her role as The Narrator. Thus far a little bit of the background story. Maybe in the future there will be more shows. The next installment is the release of the second part of the game and the release of the album. Ivo, mastermind behind this whole project and previously member of the band Xystus, played the drums this evening.

Not only did Ivo van Dijk manage to form a band together and play a regular show, he also got some of the artists who participated in the video game on stage and added a full orchestra. The second part is the theater show I went to tonight. The reason this project caught my attention, is that some of my favourite musicians participate in it. This is a story based game in which the player can enjoy the story through music and songs.
First off, there is Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame. Karmaflow is an ambitious project of a few (former, they graduated) students from the University of Arts in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Back then the project was just starting, but on this evening I went to see the premiere of Karmaflow in Concert: The Rock Opera. Theater aan de Parade, ‘s Hertogenbosch (NL)Ī while ago during a concert of Tristania and Dark Tranquillity, I got into contact with the guys and girls behind Karmaflow.
